Mock Tests
Mock tests can be given that simulate the actual driving test experience. This enables you to measure your own driving ability to the standard required for the actual test. It is important that you follow the Instructor's directions and stick to the test route . Failure to stick to the route will result in test failure. The driving instructor will record any errors made during the test and categorise them accordingly. You will then be advised as to whether you have passed or failed the test.
- Mock tests normally start at the VTNZ testing centre, but pupils can be picked up and dropped off from their home address where appropriate.
- A restricted mock test itself normally lasts an hour, but extra time may be needed if home pick up and drop off is required. This is included in the price.
- A full licence mock test only requires an hour in total.
Car hire for restricted / full licence tests
Cars are available for hire for the tests at the discretion of the driving instructor. If there is any doubt about the suitability of a candidate then a mock test will be given. If the test results in failure then more lessons may be needed before the car can be hired.
For a restricted licence test the vehicle needs to be hired for at least a 2 hour period and this includes a pretest drive. For the full licence test a 1 1/2 period of hire is required.
NB: A 'Car hire terms and conditions document' will need to be signed by the student and where applicable the student's guardian before taking the restricted/full licence test.
